Announcing MASALA’s first grantees

Last year, the MASALA Giving Circle mobilized donors from DCs South Asian community to focus their giving on local organizations working for the disadvantaged and underserved among us.

As a result, we raised $15,000 for these inspiring, deserving organizations:

chai_logo1) Counselors Helping South Asians Inc. (CHAI) takes a holistic approach to providing proactive, culturally competent information and referrals on mental health and wellness to the South Asian population.

dvrp_logo2) Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project (DVRP) provides services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

zen_classic_logo3) Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center (APLRC) provides linguistically accessible and culturally appropriate legal services to low-income Asian immigrants in the metropolitan D.C. area who have limited English proficiency.

The MASALA Giving Circle was created to leverage assets and make collective contributions to advance the work of U.S. nonprofit organizations working to empower underserved and disadvantaged South Asian communities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
